Apple Authorized Reseller Simply Mac, owned by GameStop, will be closing multiple locations in the Untied States later this month. The store mostly operates in areas where Apple Stores aren’t easily accessible. Several local news stations have begun reporting the closures.
Some reports stated that several Simply Mac locations were closing due to Apple ending their partnership, but the reseller debuted the rumor on Twitter.
According to a spokesperson who spoke with Midland-Reporter Telegram in Texas, Simply Mac closures are due to the lack of traffic in said locations. This, of course, would seemingly confirm that they’re not ending their relationship with Apple.
“As GameStop announced in its holiday sales release, the company continues to focus on the execution of our business transformation plan, which includes growing our non-gaming businesses and right-sizing our global store portfolio across all our retail brands. This involves evaluating and closing non-productive locations. The closure of this Simply Mac store is part of that strategy.”
While the list hasn’t been confirmed, Simply Mac will be closing in the following locations: North Carolina, North Dakota, Montana, Texas, and Illinois.
