New IPod Touch And IPod Nano’s EarPods Don’t Include Mic/Remote

This to some may come as a surprise, but come on, let’s be honest, we knew this would happen. The new EarPods, as Apple is calling them, that are included with the new iPod touch and iPod nano do not include the microphone and remote in the line (see above for what it looks like with the iPhone 5′s).

These new funky looking headphones unveiled by Cupertino last month are the new standard for Apple headphones, replacing the older iconic ones (unless you buy a shuffle or classic, those still include the ‘legacy’ headphones).

iPods and iPhones have always shipped with a pair of Apple headphones, so this year is no different. As Apple has always done, it included a mic/remote equipped version in the iPhone boxes, and one without in the iPod packaging.

One thing of note though is the EarPods that come with the iPhone have a new reusable, plastic packaging, while the iPod ones come in temporary packaging. Both the iPod touch and iPod nano do work with Apple’s new EarPods with mic and remote, however, so you just have to buy a pair separately if that is what you are looking for.

What do you think? Should Apple just include the mic/remote version with all iPods too? Does this disappoint you? Let us know in the comments.
