Apple Buys ‘Carpool Karaoke’ Segment From Late Late Show, New Episodes Will Be Available Weekly Via Apple Music
Today Apple has acquired the rights to the popular Carpool Karaoke series that was a part of The Late Late Show with James Corden on CBS. While the actual payout is unclear, Apple has said it will be releasing new episodes via Apple Music, THR reports.
For those who are out of the loop, Carpool Karaoke is a series created by Corden where he drives around in a car with a celebrity or musician and sing popular songs. Previously, Corden has had One Direction, Selena Gomez, Michelle Obama, Stevie Wonder, and many more on the show.
CBS Television and Fulwell 73 will be the guys behind the show. Fulwell 73 is the production company behind The Late Late Show, which is run by executive produce Ben Winston. With Apple, 16 episodes will be produced and streamed exclusively on Apple Music. It’s unclear who the host will be, but it will unlikely be Corden.
Apple SVP Eddy Cue says that like Apple Music, Carpool Karaoke is a fun and unique way to express love for music.
“We love music, and Carpool Karaoke celebrates it in a fun and unique way that is a hit with audiences of all ages. It’s a perfect fit for Apple Music — bringing subscribers exclusive access to their favorite artists and celebrities who come along for the ride.”
New episodes of Carpool Karaoke will be streamed exclusively on Apple Music with new episodes every week. Previously, Corden’s Carpool Karaoke segments have gained tens of millions of views.
