Latest round of 4-inch iPhone mockups

With the new iPad launch in our not-so-distant past, and iPods not eliciting the amount of excitement they once did, iOS fans across the web have turned their attention wholeheartedly to the next generation iPhone. And in my opinion, one of the most entertaining ways to speculate about the next toy Apple’s got up its sleeve is by looking at and/or creating mockups.

There are tons of very talented artists out there who have been helping us visualize just what an iPhone with a 4-inch display could look like. Most recently, two designs have hit the web from Daniel Bautista, design student, and apfelpage.de.

Bautista’s design (below) was inspired by the Photo Stream leaks from last summer that suggested an iPhone with a wider body to accommodate a bigger screen. I must admit that I much prefer the design from posted on apfelpage.de (above) which features a super-thin iPhone with a beautiful 4-inch display, widgets, and a touch-sensitive home button.

Adding these to the growing number of great iPhone 5 mockups out there, do you think Apple will be able to live up to the hype surrounding this device, or deliver another device that, like the iPhone 4S, is more of a slight update than a major upgrade? Let me know down in the comments or on twitter!

iPhone was a leader and very innovative five years ago but now they are a follower and not a leader in the mobile phone industry.  I've had both iPhones and Androids and I will stay with Android until iPhone catches up and will probably still stay with Android.

@TimH1955 Catches up to android ? Hahaha dude in what world do u live

DevinMartinez  TimH1955 IOS is so much more advanced and better than the android OS, i have an iPhone and am not biased, i have had the droid incredible and the droid razer maxx. The droids had horrible battery (even the maxx) and the iPhone has a much better selection of apps and games.

DevinMartinez The reason the battery life is better on an iPhone is the iPhone is not 4G which takes more battery power.  Even though it isn't 4G the iPhone 4S still has battery issues.

@TimH1955 You can't mention one hspa android phone with better battery life then the iPhone

DevinMartinez  TimH1955 Like I said above...I have had three iPhones and they were great at first but Android phones have caught and past them.  iPhone has a smaller screen and is not 4G.  From what I've read the iPhone 5 will finally have these features but Android has had them for 18 months.  I currently have the Samsung Nexus and it is head and shoulders above any iPhone.

@TimH1955 @DevinMartinez Everyrhing you've mentioned has absolutely nothing to do with android. Size, 4g, screen is all hardware. Android has nothing to do with hardware cuz its software theirs plenty of windows phones that are 4" & above. As for android vs iOS day to day use android is terrible don't tell me battery is better cuz the lack of 4g cuz the nexus battery life is terribad & only the Verizon version is 4g. The s2 battery is no where near the iPhones either. All due to android being a battery hog software, it's glitchy, updates are terrible when they finally get them & they run less consistent. Plus u need a phd on them just to make a call. Their just more eye candy then ios that's all

iPhones sucks anyways so no matter what they do its only going to be a turd
