Apple did not update its MacBook Air line today, perhaps signaling the death of the line in favor of the MacBook and MacBook Pro lineups.
While there was no mention of a MacBook Air update, Apple is still making the 13-inch MacBook Air available to purchase, which was last updated in 2015. The 11-inch, however, has been discontinued and can no longer be purchased from Apple.
The 13-inch MacBook Air continues to start at $999 for the 1.6GHz/8GB/128GB configuration, which is probably why Apple is keeping it in the line. The MacBook Air’s entry price is $500 cheaper than the newly announced MacBook Pro by $500, and $300 cheaper than the entry level 12-inch MacBook.
