If any of you are like me, you have a love-hate relationship with Siri. Apple’s personal assistant is great for many things, but has a tendency to not fully understand what the user wants. Even with her downfalls, though, Siri is still arguably the best digital assistant available.

In an attempt to knock Siri off her throne as the best digital assistant, Amazon announced today that it has purcahsed IVONA Software, which is a software company out of Poland that implements speech-to-text technology. IVONA’s technology is already in use on the Kindle Fire to handle the tablet’s voice commands.

While IVONA is currently available on the Kindle Fire, it is possible that Amazon will use this technology to take on Siri directly on phones as well. It has long been rumored that Amazon is looking to create their own phone, and the acquisition of IVONA allows Amazon to have a feature that is able to take on Siri on the iPhone.

Do any of you use Siri or some other digital assistant? Would you be interested in Amazon’s IVONA software?
