Activation Servers Topple, Thousands Of IPhones Bricked?

Word of advice: don’t try activating any iOS devices today–the iTunes activation server went down bringing down thousands of iOS devices with it. The server collapse made thousands of iPhones and iPads just giant, expensive paper weights and probably made thousands of customers furious.

This comes after a fifteen page support discussion on Apple’s web forums, where dozens (hundreds?) of users reported that Apple was unintentionally bricking their phones, pods, and pads. Funny what a server going down can do.

Some users on the forum are reporting they’ve found a solution that is less than ideal (it requires a factory restore), however if you want the latest version of iOS installed on your device, be warned.
