How to temporarily hide stock icons on iOS 9

If you’re looking to hide icons that come stock on your iOS device, YouTuber Jose Rodriguez has found a way. Most users just throw useless icons into some sort of junk folder, Apple aids you in some ways by allowing you to hide the iTunes and iBooks Stores, as well as the Podcast app.

Though Rodriguez’s method is fairly simple, it may not be available in the future as it uses an exploit found in iOS. This is nothing new if you’re jailbroken, however, this method does not require a jailbreak.

So, to temporarily hide stock icons on iOS 9, do the following:

Step 1: Tap and hold on any app icon on the Home screen.

Step 2: When the icons on your Home screen start to wiggle, drag the icon of the app you want to hide over another app’s icon, without letting go of the finger.

Step 3: This will create a folder. Now drag the app’s icon to the second page of the folder and let go of the finger.

Step 4: Next, drag the icon to the folder’s third page but don’t take your finger off it.

Step 5: Finally, drag the app’s icon to either edge of the folder while simultaneously pressing the Home button.

If you’re a bit confused, here’s the corresponding video:

It’s worth noting that any app that is hidden isn’t actually deleted so you can still launch the apps from Spotlight Search. Also, the app icons reappear after a reboot of your iOS device.
