This week’s Monday Moan is all about Apple’s decision to build and release an 8GB version of the iPhone 5c. It’s Apple’s way of trying to make the 5c more popular, but, the best solution would have been just making the current models cheaper. 8GB is nowhere near enough storage, and the problem wasn’t just the price, it’s the perception of cheapness that plastic gives, regardless of its build quality. Although the 8GB version of the 5c will be cheaper, it doesn’t help bring the range down. It says “The current models are priced correctly, here’s one with no storage that’ll cost less” and ignores the issue that they’re too expensive for people’s mindset of what a small plastic phone should cost.
