It’s finally here! As rumored, Microsoft has just announced its full Office suite for iPad.
At its San Francisco event, CEO Sayta Nadella has announced a string of new initiatives and products, but this is certainly the most exciting.
In a very similar format to Apple’s own office suite for the iPad, Microsoft’s Office will include Word, PowerPoint and Excel. all will be available as a free download on the app store, but users will require an Office 365 subscription in order to edit and create documents, although you won’t need a subscription to read and present already created documents.
The dreaded 365 subscription is a huge turn off, but initial screenshots of the apps look promising. The iPad suite will no doubt feature cloud compatibility, including use alongside the iPhone Office suite, which was released last June.
Office for iPad will go live on the App Store today at 11am PT/2pm ET.
