Overview of the new Pebble 2.0 update

Finally, the Pebble update to version 2.o has landed! But, what all is included in this monstrous update? Well, a lot, actually. Not only does this include version 2.0 firmware for the Pebble smartwatch, but it also comes with a full revamp of the application itself. No longer is it just a simple front for moving apps to and from your Pebble, but now it includes a full blown appstore for Pebble apps and watch faces; and Pebble did an awesome job.

pebbleapp1Upon first firing up the Pebble 2.0 application, you will be prompted to update your Pebble (assuming you aren’t on the 2.0+ firmware). It shows this little cloud icon with a progress bar for the download, as well as the version of the software you are downloading (which at the time of this writing, should say v2.0.0). After it is done, the Pebble will turn back on and welcome you to the 2.0 version of its software.

pebbleapp2After that you will be greeted by the new Pebble appstore. Here, you can download watchfaces and apps. App range from Foursquare to Yelp, to things like Smartwatch+. There are “1000s” of different watch faces and applications, so if you are interested in finding something new to make your Pebble yours, definitely check out some of the awesome faces and apps found in here (personally, my Pebble stays on the SmartStatus app to work with Smartwatch+).

pebbleapp3Lastly, where you keep all of your applications for your Pebble is called the Locker. You have 8 slots to fill on your Pebble, and in case you have more than 8 applications and watch faces that you like on your Pebble and want fast access to others, you simply can put them in your Locker. This allows you to have better organization of your Pebble watchfaces and apps. I don’t use many watchfaces or apps, but with the new appstore out I definitely will be looking around and will most likely end up having to put a few in this Locker area.

What do you think? Do you like the new Pebble 2.0 update? Are you a fan of the appstore application? Let us know in the comments, or tweet me @TiP_Kyle. If you find any neat applications, be sure to send them my way!

Its very well done I think, and app and watch face installation is as easy as installing an app on my iPhone (easier actually because there is no password).

This is so much better than before.  It makes the Pebble a more well rounded product, since there are now more and better apps that run on the watch itself.
