Huawei uses knock off Siri to preview devices being announced at MWC

Huawei, the Chinese hardware manufacturer that has made Android phones and tablets in the past, posted a video on YouTube showing off some sneak peaks of devices it is planning to announce at MWC 2014 later this month. The fashion in which it did so is the reason it has landed a spot on this site, however, with the choice of medium being a ripoff of Siri.

In the video (which can be viewed above), you see a white phone which resembles an iPhone in every aspect other than that the top and bottom parts have been made plain white as to hide enough detail that Apple can’t necessarily sue Huawei for using Apple trademarks, but leaving enough detail for people to get the gist of what is being shown. Also, the interface of the voice assistant looks nearly identical to Siri, sans a few minor details.

Around the 0:48 mark you hear the narrator ask “What are they? FRUIT or SOMESONG?” Obviously, this is asking if it is Apple or Samsung. The most comedic part in my opinion though is when Huawei says it is “ready to amaze the world again!” Can someone remind me of the first time? I’ve always known about Huawei, but never have I been amazed by the company. All of its products seem mediocre to me compared to what is offered by other companies, including the likes of Samsung, HTC, and others.

You can check out the full video above. Don’t get me wrong, I hope Huawei has something great to announce, as innovation will only push the industry further, I just don’t see that happening. Huawei always seems to be a little late to the party on most features, and I don’t think an “amazing front camera” is going to be the best selling point with phones today.

What do you think? Ridiculous? Or exciting? Let us know in the comments, or tweet me @TiP_Kyle.
