Popular jailbreak app “BiteSMS” gets beta release for iOS 7

photo-13biteSMS is by far one of the most popular jailbreak tweaks, with a ton of people using it for mainly features that include Quick Reply, and Quick Compose. It is a full featured Messages-replacement application that has been around for a while, and has seen fairly regular updates. With the new evasi0n7 jailbreak out, and iOS 7 users getting a new Cydia to match the feel of the newest operating system, tweaks and apps are slowly beginning to get updated as well.

Keep in mind, this version of biteSMS (8.0.1) is still in beta, so don’t expect it to be perfect at first. Many that have tried it out note that there are still plenty of bugs to be found, but that’s why it’s a beta. These will be fixed with time and before the official release, presumably. Something new also noticed with this version of biteSMS is that it will completely replace the Messages application that Apple has built in to iOS, something it used to not do. Before, you used to have 2 messages apps: biteSMS and Messages. Now, no need to worry about hiding Messages, because biteSMS does that for you.

Interested in trying out biteSMS beta? You can do so by simply adding a repo to Cydia. For those that are new to jailbreaking, it’s easy. Open Cydia, go to Manage -> Sources -> Edit -> Add and type in test-cydia.bitesms.com. After that, go into the repo and you should see the 8.0.1 version of biteSMS waiting to be installed. It’s currently free and has ads inside, so if you want to try it out before the full version comes along now is a great chance.

What do you think? Interested in biteSMS for iOS 7? Excited to see jailbreak tweaks/apps being updated? Let us know in the comments, or tweet me @TiP_Kyle.

“Before, you used to have 2 messages apps: biteSMS and Messages. Now, no need to worry about hiding Messages, because biteSMS does that for you.” — So you are happy when features are taken away from you? Having BOTH apps is what I miss about the previous versions. I don’t like that they took away my default Apple App. I can no longer apply all the cool messages tweaks and themes to my messages apps that I have loved and used for years. Now I have to choose between installing BiteSMS or using the Messages App – not both. Thumbs down for not giving “us the option” to hide it.
