16GB & 32GB Retina iPad mini Wi-Fi models are back to 5 to 10 day shipping estimates

Last week we reported that some models of the iPad mini with Retina Display (namely the 16GB and 32GB Wi-Fi only models) were shipping in 1 to 3 business days from the Apple Online Store. In comparison, the rest of the line up were all showing 5 to 10 day estimates.

Well, looks like that window of opportunity has now passed as all Retina iPad mini models are showing the 5 to 10 day business day shipping estimates.

We were speculating that, perhaps, holiday shoppers would not have to search high and low in order to get their hands on an iPad mini with Retina Display over the next few weeks and that demand and/or production estimates may not have been as high/low as previously expected.

The news of the shipping times slipping does not look promising for customers as the demand for Apple’s newest tablets is likely to ramp up as we head into the holiday season.

iPad Air models, both Wi-Fi only and Wi-Fi + Cellular, are showing shipping estimates of 5 to 7 days.

You know, i went to the Apple Store and compared my non-retina iPad mini to a retina one, and while I agree that the retina looks somewhat sharper, the non-retina on I have still have a nice screen.  I think people gave it a bad rap when it wasn’t really warranted.
Bottom line, if you already have an iPad mini, upgrading to the retina one is not really worth $400.00.
