The ever-popular VoIP service Skype has just been updated with a fresh visual redesign iOS 7. We’ve had to wait a little while, but the Microsoft-owned app for both iPhone and iPad has finally been refreshed to match iOS 7’s new look and feel.
The new version clearly fits in with iOS 7 and has incorporated the new design language well. Skype’s design was already fairly “flat”, taking cues from Windows Phone style apps, but they’ve now gone all-in on the iOS 7 aesthetic.
There is much more white space with the Skype blue adding a splash of colour and brand identity.
What’s new in Skype for iPhone and iPad 4.13:
- Refreshed look and feel for iOS 7
- Accessibility improvements, including:
- Improved accessibility of dialpad with touchtype support
- VoiceOver announces the senders name when messaging
- VoiceOver improvements for group chats
As well as updating the visual appearance of the app, the new update contains several accessibility improvements over older versions, including improved accessibility of dialpad with touchtype support and VoiceOver enhancments among other general bug fixes. But for the most part, it’s functionally the same.
The update is available now for the iPhone app and the iPad app.
