It’s now October, and if history and rumors are any indication, the iPad 5 and iPad mini 2 will soon be upon us. With the iPad 3, Cupertino decided to give the tablet a 5MP camera, which then carried over last year into the iPad mini. Well it sounds like those two cameras could be seeing an upgrade in the next generation of devices expected to be announced sometime this month, getting a bump up to an 8MP sensor. This, along with a larger aperture, would allow the iPad 5 and iPad mini 2 to possibly sport some of the same features as the new iPhone 5s granted they receive a processor upgrade as well.
The iPad mini 2 and iPad 5 are highly expected to be arriving this month, however rumors have been all over the place in some regards. Touch ID has been thrown into the mix now that the iPhone 5s is out, and no one seems sure whether or not it will be coming to Apple’s larger iOS devices. We have also seen leaks that the iPads will come in colors similar to those of the iPhone 5s, including the new space grey and gold color options.
Another rumor that has been going back and forth is that of the iPad mini 2 receiving a Retina display. It would seem like the logical next step for Apple to give the iPad mini a Retina display (and it could sure use one with iOS 7 now out), however it seems that supply constraints may keep that from happening unfortunately. Many expect the iPad 5 to get an iPad mini-esque redesign, along with the usual upgraded internals. The rumored event is said to be happening on October 15th, but that is still unconfirmed until invites go out. It’s only a matter of time, it would seem.
