AT&T increases subscribers by 1 million, almost 7 million smartphones sold in Q3

The third quarter of 2013 ended up being a pretty decent quarter for one of America’s largest cell carriers. AT&T, the second largest network provider, announced its earnings today, and the numbers are pretty good for the company.

Big Blue announced that it had increased total subscribers by nearly 1 million by adding 363,000 net postpaid subscribers. In addition, the company announced that it sold nearly 7 million smartphones this past quarter, which means that over 50 million subscribers are now using smartphones on the network, which is around 75% of all subscribers.

In addition to subscriber and sales numbers, AT&T also released its financial earnings numbers. The company announced that it pulled in $17.5 billion in revenue last quarter, while the operating income was around $4.5 billion. These are both significantly higher than last year’s Q3 earnings.

This is good news for the company to see increases year-over-year. The quarterly earnings were very positive, and are helpful for the company as it continues to chase Verizon for the title of largest carrier in the states.

What do you think of AT&T’s earnings numbers. Are you surprised to see the improved numbers from the company? Leave a comment below, or tweet me at @TiP_Griffin.
