It seems ages since BlackBerry announced that it was
selling out going to offer its popular messaging service to Android and iOS users. After what seems like an age, we finally have news of some progress. The app has been submitted to the App Store and is only waiting for Apple to sign off on its release.
Alex Kinsella, of BlackBerry, tweeted late last night:
Just in case we forgot to mention, BBM for iPhone was submitted for review 2 wks ago. #waiting #BBM4ALL
BBM for iOS is something that would have caused a massive stir maybe a year or two ago, but many are struggling to see its relevance today. With messenger apps like WhatsApp, Facebook Messenger and Google Hangouts on the market, I certainly don’t see what BBM could have that I don’t already get elsewhere. Saying that, if it’s a much better designed version of WhatsApp, I’ll be very happy to use it. And tell everyone else to.
