Plants vs Zombies 2 is one of the hottest game releases of the summer. The PopCap game has been in the App Store top 5 on the free charts since its launch (currently 5), and it doesn’t look like the app will be slowing down any time soon. EA, the company behind PopCap, announced today in a blog post that the app had been downloaded more than 25 million times, and it has also surpassed the all-time downloads for the original Plants vs Zombies. This means that the game is averaging over one million downlaods per day, which is an incredible download rate for a game that is two weeks old.
It is also worth noting that these download numbers are just for iOS, and the game is expected to be launched on Windows 8, Windows Phone, and Android later in the year. Plants vs Zombies 2 is available as a freemium download from the App Store, which is much different than the original paid version of Plants vs Zombies. The freemium model could be a reason why the game has been even more successful than the first.
Have you played Plants vs Zombies 2? I personally haven’t found the time to download it yet, but I will most likely try it out within the next few days. Let me know what you think of the app in the comments section below.
