A new rumors is suggesting that all the leaked backplates we’ve been seeing for the Budget iPhone are really just new uniforms for the iPhone 5. Apparently Apple plans to throw these plastic backplates on iPhones with the exact same specs as the iPhone 5 and market them as budget iPhones. Personally I’m not buying it.
For some reason, Apple allowed users with iOS 6.1.x to downgrade to iOS 6.0.x for a few hours tonight. This is great news for jailbreakers, as the newer version of iOS 6 is not jailbroken, but the older version is. Still no word on why this was possible, but it looks like the window to downgrade has since been closed.
This is an interesting leak because it has all the ingredients of real, legitimate leaks – multiple pictures at a high resolution, a fairly believable point of origin and context, and genuine-looking parts. The thing is, there’s virtually no way to tell if the motherboard in the pictures is or isn’t for the iPhone 5S.
Question of the day: Why do you think Apple allowed the iOS 6 downgrades? Was it an unpublicized white flag to the jailbreakers out there, or simply a mistake? Sound off in the comments section below or let me know on twitter @TiP_Jake.
