This is something that has been mysteriously missing from the Apple TV ever since its release in the original silver form a few years ago: purchasing music from iTunes. It makes sense, doesn’t it? You can access your entire iTunes library from the device, why not have the ability to actually buy content from it as well? You can already buy movies, TV shows, or other video based content, however you can’t actually buy music – until now. In the newest beta software for the Apple TV, developers are given the ability to purchase music from iTunes, finally.
A feature like this is seemingly inevitable with the announcement, and release, of iTunes Radio. This feature is available on the Apple TV, so why wouldn’t the ability to purchase the songs you are listening to – just as you can do on any iOS 7 device or the new iTunes 11.1 beta – come as well? Well, it has. If you are a developer and have access to the pre-release software, you can now update your Apple TV to the beta 3 of Apple TV 5.4, which brings this long missing feature.
