It was announced last week that the iPhone 5 would finally be making its way to Virgin Mobile for $549.99 without a contract on one of the prepaid carrier’s unlimited plans. For Virgin Mobile users, good news has arrived: RadioShack will be carrying the device for Virgin beginning tomorrow at the same price. The retailer will also give $50 for trade-ins of any iPhone 4 or iPhone 4S. In addition, the store has also discounted the price of the older devices for Virgin.

Apple’s latest flagship iPhone will be available in both the black & slate, as well as white & silver versions, but it is not yet known whether RadioShack will be selling the 32GB and 64GB versions of the iPhone 5 on Virgin.

While I am not a Virgin Mobile user, the idea of being able to own an iPhone without being tied down to a mobile contract has always seemed appealing to me, especially with unlimited data. The $50 trade in is also a good deal for Virgin users that are on older Apple devices. What do you think of RadioShack’s deal? Would you ever consider switching to a prepaid carrier if they offered the latest phone and unlimited data? Let us know by leaving a comment below.

I have an iPhone 4S on Virgin Mobile and I love the $30 a month with unlimited data, but the 3G speed sucks and upgrades cost an arm and a leg. So you can judge for yourself.
