While it has been rumored since the inception of Vine earlier this year, it appears that Facebook will take the wraps off of an Instagram video service at its announcement this Thursday. Facebook began mailing out invitations to their June 20th event last week, and according to AllThingsD, the announcement is to announce Instagram video to rival Twitter’s own Vine.
According to AllThingsD:
Instagram plans to release a video product this Thursday at a press event at Facebook’s headquarters, according to multiple sources familiar with the matter, marking the first time the robust, 100-million user network will stray from being strictly a photo-sharing app and dive head first into the world of moving pictures.
While the details have not been officially announced, obviously, and it seems the details have been tightly kept secrets, the report also claims that Instagram is looking to make their video service different than Vine. It is also unknown at this point whether the service will be incorporated within the Instagram app or whether it will become its own app.
Would you be interested in an Instagram video service? Would you use it over Vine? What features should it include to differentiate itself from the existing apps?
