By now, many of you may know that Apple is rumored to be working on a streaming music service. While at this point it is not clear if the company plans on modeling it’s music service after Spotify or Pandora, many in the industry do believe that it is coming, and soon.
Apple’s so called “iRadio” has been in the works for some time, and at first record labels seemed hesitant. It seems as if the project is now gaining traction, and Apple is pushing for a summer launch.
According to The Verge:
Sources say that the labels believe web radio is bigger than Pandora and the market will expand soon. Apple is coming.
Now multiple music industry insiders have told The Verge that significant progress has been made in the talks with two of the top labels: Universal and Warner. One of the sources said “iRadio is coming. There’s no doubt about it anymore.” Apple is pushing hard for a summertime launch.
It’s great to hear that sources in the industry are so confident that Apple will be launching it’s own iRadio soon. What do you think? Would iRadio make you consider dropping Pandora or Spotify, or would you stick with what you have? Leave us a comment below and let us know!
