Just a day after Ferrari announcing an iPad mini equipped car, new job listings show up on Apple’s site looking for vehicle related software engineers. Apple looks to be taking on the in-car iOS integration very seriously, these job listings would suggest. The job listing is pretty straight forward in showing this:
Apple is looking for a Software Quality Assurance Manager to drive iPod/iPhone/iPad integration testing with car stereos. In this role you will be a hands-on manager, guiding the team to test car stereo compatibility with iOS products.
This is in addition to previous job listings that were looking for “iOS Car Services” employees that can offer “expertise in application and framework development.” Apple is really looking to increase its in-car presence, shown most notably by the Siri Eyes Free feature that was built into iOS 6. I wouldn’t be surprised to see a lot more vehicles being announced to support this feature in the future, and I wouldn’t surprised to see even further integration in the future.
What do you think? Excited to see Apple pushing car integration? Would you use the features? Let us know in the comments, or tweet me @TiP_Kyle.
