First Look at the Elgato EyeTV Mobile for iPad/iPhone [CU Exposed 2013]

EyeTV Feature

There was a whole host of eye-catching gadgetry at CU Exposed in London this year, and one of the more unique offerings was from Elgato. The EyeTV Mobile is essentially a dongle which connects to your iPad/iPhone using the 30-pin connector and allows you to watch any terrestrial TV channels. There is a Micro-USB version for other devices, and the Lightning connector version will be released as soon as the company gets its official authorization through from Cupertino. Having spoken to the company’s representative there, it’s not an easy thing to make your product Lightning compatible thanks to Apple’s strict licensing terms.

It’s not just a receiver though. You can play, pause and rewind live TV using the bespoke iOS app. You don’t need an internet connection, so you won’t run up huge data bills using it, and it will work with Lightning connector adapters (if you have one of those). In the UK the Elgato EyeTV Mobile will set you back a cool £89.99. In the States it’s $99.95.
