Apple acquires ‘AuthenTec’ and ‘KeepSafe’ Trademarks

Reports from Patently Apple show that Apple is now the owner of the “AuthenTec” and “Keepsafe” trademarks.

Apple bought AuthenTec back in July of last year, a company which has pioneered fingerprint technology, some of which is likely to appear in Apple devices of the future. Similarly, “KeepSafe” is a trademark associated with biometrics. As part of the release Apple gave a screenshot from AuthenTec’s website, with this statement:

KeepSafe is an additional fingerprint enabled software application purchased from AuthenTec Store. KeepSafe allows you to encrypt your files in a protected folder. The folder can be shown on your Desktop or in Computer. This folder will not be visible for other users sharing the computer.

Biometric technology is still fairly fresh ground when it comes to mobile technology, but it could certainly revolutionize the way we keep our devices safe and secure in the future, be sure to keep a look out for some fantastic technology in the future.
