FutureTap released an app on the App Store yesterday which seeks to being one of the most missed features of the Google Maps app to Apple’s own much-maligned app in iOS 6. For $0.99/£0.69. Obviously, the free Google Maps app does already offer this, but, if you enjoy using Apple Maps and just want the option to use Street View again, go ahead and try this third party app. Let us know what you think in the comments.
From the App Store description:
“Do you yearn for the days of Street View in iOS 5? “Flyover” in iOS 6 is great but sometimes you want a closer look. Welcome to “Street View”. Launch it from Maps and go back with a single tap. You’ll feel right at home!
✔ Integrated with Maps
Street View is Maps’ best friend. Launch Street View from “Maps” for any location. View the panorama and tap right back.
If you’re already using our location finder app “Where To?”, you’ll also be able to take advantage of tight integration with Street View to view your location and snap right back when you’re done.
Drop a pin, search for a city or address or find a person from your contacts.
Switch the map to satellite or hybrid mode.
Your recent searches and the selected map style are all saved, synced and shared with all your iOS devices via iCloud.
✔ Easy to use
If you can swipe, you’ll be all right. Just use your favorite gestures to zoom around Street View. Flip your iPhone or iPad to easily rotate from portrait to landscape and back again. The mini map corner displays your current position, viewing angle and field of view.
✔ 300+ Gallery Places
Explore more than 300 “gallery places” worldwide – museums, ski resorts and even a few underwater attractions. There are even indoor multi-level panoramas to make it easy to find your way around museums and more!
