Nielsen has released its “Top 10 iPhone apps of 2012” list, among other statistics. The list is based on the average unique users of each respective application. From Q1 to Q3, Maps was the most used application, with 3 other native apps finding themselves in the top 10. YouTube and Maps are assumed to be the stock ones that were found in iOS 5, as iOS 6 was not released until September. Facebook and Twitter can also be found in the list, while the now Facebook-owned Instagram barely made it in at number 10. Facebook Messenger was the fastest growing, increasing its unique users from January to October by an insane 544%. This may change next year, but Google did have any app released by them in the top 10 (the Maps and YouTube were still made by Apple at the time). Most of these aren’t surprising, but it will be interesting to see if more 3rd parties make it into the list next year.
What do you think? Do you use all of these apps? Any you thought might make it? Let us know in the comments, or tweet me @TiP_Kyle.
