Facebook for iOS, Android, and mobile web gain ‘Share’ button

Facebook for iOS, Android, and mobile web have been updated today with a new ‘Share’ button on news feed items.

The new button will allow Facebook users to repost other users’ posts for their groups of friends (with comments of their own, if they so choose.) It’s a lot like the “re-blog” functionality that Tumblr was founded on, and it’s also similar to Twitter’s “re-tweet” function.

The iOS version went live today with the following new features:

  • New Share link to re-post stories from your news feed
  • Tag your friends in any post, comment or photo
  • Smileys, hearts and other emoji in messages
  • To sort your feed, tap the button next to News Feed in the left sidebar
Personally, as an avid Facebook user (and god that sentence is embarrassing,) I am hoping my friends don’t start using Facebook as Tumblr or Pinterest pages. I’ve always seen Facebook as a little more personal and I like having friends who see it the same way.
What do you think? Are you excited about the new Share function? Let us know in the comments!

The mobile web version didn’t get it today, it got it a couple weeks ago.
