Apple Store app updated with Passbook gift cards and Siri support

The iOS Apple Store application has always been the odd man out of the Apple-built app family. As far as new features are concerned, this app is always the last one to be updated. It took a week or two to gain support for the Retina display when the iPhone 4 first launched and, more recently, it went un-updated for days before finally gaining support for the iPhone 5’s four inch screen. Similarly, Passbook and Siri have been around for quite some time now, but Apple is only now updating the Apple Store app to support these iOS staples. Well, I guess it’s better late than never…

Version 2.4 of the Apple Store application (available to download now) now allows users to purchase gift cards for Apple retail stores, and these cards can be used in brick-and-mortar stores via the Passbook app. And finally, if you’re rocking one of the newer Apple gadgets with Siri built in, you’ll now be able to have the digital assistant call up pricing and other details about Apple’s products that are supplied by the Apple Store app.
