MacRumors, the site dedicated to rumors and speculation regarding anything Apple-flavored, has images of what its source claims is the battery for the iPad mini. Obviously, the smaller iPad is still nothing but a mythical, unreleased product. However, writer Eric Slivka does state that markings on the battery are consistent with pre-existent cells. This particular battery unit has a capacity of 16.7 Watt-Hours, virtually three times more than the iPhone 5’s 5.45 Wh fuel cell.
We can only speculate as to whether or not this is the real deal or not, but, as the writer on the original article states, it is the right size to fit inside the rumored tablet’s shell, and has authentic-looking markings on it. We’re still waiting to find out whether or not the iPad mini is even going to happen, all recent rumors are pointing towards a launch event on October 23rd.
