This whole Lightning fiasco has been quite the interesting one. When the iPhone 5 was announced, Apple also announced its new connector, which it dubbed Lightning. It was later found that Apple had put an authentication chip inside of Lightning cables forcing 3rd party manufacturers to buy them and be approved by Apple. However, many companies set forth looking to crack the chip. Some claim they have. One of those companies, iPhone5mod, has already gotten some news for its lighting up Lightning cord.
