iPad dominates in China with 72% of tablet market in Q2
Well, big shocker here. It looks like our friends across the pond love the iPad too (seriously, really a lot). Since Apple doesn’t release sales info by region, this info comes from a firm out of China called Analysys International, they are saying that Apple has claimed 72.66% of tablet sales in China in Q2, that breaks down to about 3 out of every four tablet purchases being an iPad. While the tablet market is still developing in China, it would certainly seem that Apple has a pretty strong hold on it (at least for now…). Below is a breakdown on where they stood against the competition.
The most remarkable part of this is that Apple achieved this success despite not being able to release the new iPad in China until just days before the end of Q2, so a large part of these sales would have still come from the iPad 2. Now that the new iPad is available, I’ll be curious to see where they stand Q3.
What do you all think? Do these numbers make sense or would you rather have seen someone else topping off that list? For how long do we expect Apple to be able to keep these winning numbers? Sing your song in the comments.
