Which iPhone 5 feature do you want most?

iPhone rumors are very strange because there are tons of them, but they really only focus on a few things. What’s more, with the next-gen iPhone launch only a few months away, those rumors have been picking up steam. There seem to be three main features that keep grabbing the most headlines: 4G LTE connectivity, a larger screen, and a redesigned body. In a perfect world, the ‘new iPhone’ would have all three and more, but if you had to choose just one, which feature would you pick?

4G LTE is probably last on my list. 3G isn’t lightning fast, but it’s by no means slow. I think the difference between EDGE and 3G is far more significant than 3G and 4G, so I would be fine sticking to 3G for a while longer. I’ve never really had any problems with 3G + WiFi. Well, no problems that wouldn’t persist with 4G – AT&T’s coverage isn’t optimal no matter what speeds you’re on. The biggest thing keeping me from embracing 4G, however, is the fact that I won’t be able to get unlimited data. I use the web on my iPhone A LOT. I would choose unlimited slower data over capped faster data any day.

The feature I would place directly over 4G would be a redesigned body. I love when one of my favorite devices receives a redesign with a new set of colors and/or building materials. A refreshed look would definitely be a plus, especially considering that the iPhone has existed in it’s current form (aesthetically speaking) for over two years now. Of course, design isn’t everything. With most people covering up Apple’s designs with cases anyway, how a device looks isn’t essential to how it operates.

Obviously, then, if I had to choose just a single feature for Apple’s next major iPhone release, I would choose a larger screen. More than anything else, the screen size of the iPhone is in desperate need of change. The current 3.5-inch devices are looking more and more dated when compared to the slew of other smartphones out there. Now, I’m not talking about something ridiculous, but a 4-inch Retina Display on the iPhone would be excellent for games, videos, and simply breathing a bit of new life into the iPhone line.

Now, just to clarify, I really really hope that Apple has a few more tricks up its sleeve besides the three features discussed here. I can’t wait to see which rumors pan out and which missed the mark, but even more than that I’m excited to see the things that are so awesome and unexpected, they didn’t even make it into the rumor mill.

If you guys had to choose just one feature for the next iPhone, would you choose one of the three listed above or would you pick something else? Let me know in the comments section below or hit me up on twitter @TiP_Jake.

I would love a total redesign. As I've owner Iphone 4 as iPhone 4S I'm growing tired of this design. I'd love a nice metal curved back, maybe like the iPads. Or maybe just a curved strengthened carbon fibre back or something. Also a HD FaceTime camera is a must, espicially for taking pics of myself and friends and daily blogs for YouTube. And yes for FaceTime calls too, espicially as I will be using it more come ios 6. I really don't care about having a smaller dock connector, if it makes my phone slimmer, or more room for a bigger battery I'm up for it. And I'f this is the case I think they should include an adapter in the box so that old docks and all aren't completely useless. I would really love a LED notification light above the display, I envy blackberry owners for having one. And yes a larger 4+ would be nice, as long as the actual size of the device doesn't change to much, maybe reduce bezel top and bottom of screen?. larger sensor for rear camera, and maybe dual LED flash love photography. Dual stereo speakers would be awesome! And maybe 32gb of storage as standard! Since it doesn't allow micro SD cards. As images and videos file sizes get larger, more storage is needed. I really don't care for LTE as I live in UK and it's not available here.

o think if the iphone looked like ipod but a bigger display, it would be the smallest in the world.

if apple wants to fight over thinness it will have to compete with samsung. but its ios is still the best in the lines.

thats what i would like. except every year there is a new thing on an iphone that the others dont have, like stronger camera, slitly 10mp

i think the  music player that comes up in the multitasking  bar should go into notification center  and

you should b able to go in to your nots on icloud on your pc  like you can calender and stuff

These are more iOS than iPhone 5 related. As for the music controls in notification center, don't get your hopes up. And as for the iCloud notifications, you'll probably see that once iOS 6 comes out. There's an article that was posted on this website a while back explaining that some people saw their notifications in iCloud, cause Apple was testing it.

DarrenButz music controls in notification center? what do you think apple is? just another copy of android? haha.

Could you do an article about Haptic Feedback? What exactly is it and is it ever coming to the iPhone?

bigcowdaniel Haptic Feedback is the last thing Apple will implement. It's pretty much a thing of the past, and will only cause battery life to decrease.

DarrenButz haptic feedback is one of those things that apple people wanted but now 'dont' want because apple essentially made fun of it. Kinda like how the screen situation is now where apple put down bigger screens and apple fanboys joined in making comments about how 3.5 in is the best and anything bigger is a waste and a detriment to function. Now rumors are that apple is getting a bigger screen and everyone changes their tune.

I am sure that if apple said haptic feedback would be coming in the iphone 5 that every fanboy, yourself included, would respond with "amazing" and "revolutionary"

BTW< its not a thing of the past. For many people its a nice little extra, and as it goes for battery life...if haptic feedback is your big concern on battery than you really dont know much about technology.

To answer Daniel's question...Haptic feedback is basically a physical response from a device to user itneraction. Be it vibrations (which is what most people things of) or other responses.

Most of the less tech savvy people see Haptic feedback solely as a vibration when you press a button on a device. Which is great, because for the common user, thats the biggest benefit. When you are typing on a touch screen you typically only have the display readout to tell you if you hit the key. However, with haptics, you have a small and quick vibration of the phone to let you know. This typically lets people type faster and more accurately.

However, thats not all haptics are. In fact video games use haptic controllers when you feel vibrations. Your phone vibrating on silent is haptic feedback. The arts, such as graphic arts and simulations, use haptic feedback. Like if you were playing a violin on your phone you could feel the vibration of the string. Haptics are used in medicine and medical fields. Helping surgeons and doctors have better functionality and responses while doing remote operations, or other procedures. Cars with touch devices and other media inputs use haptic feedback. Video games and arcade games use haptics.

Thats just the tip of the iceberg. Haptics are very common, and ***even in use by apple in their "Tactile Touchpad"**** lol.

So, Darren, you might want to research haptic feedback a little.

TheOneandOnlyAnonymouse For the record, I'm not a fanboy and I wouldn't call it "amazing" and "revolutionary." I have an iPod Touch and an Android phone, and I, personally, cannot stand haptic feedback on my phone and have it turned off. So it wouldn't matter to me at all whether or not it was added.

DarrenButz Thats fine. If you personally don't like it. However, that doesnt make it outdated or bad tech.
