Social media and technology is the way to connect nowadays, and when it comes to getting the word out about political news, the same is true. The Romney for President, Inc just released an app onto the App Store named “Mitt’s VP.” The app will be used by Mitt Romney to announce his choice of Vice President for the election that is less than 100 days away here in the US. Here is the description via iTunes:
It’s a question everyone’s asking: who will be Mitt Romney’s VP? There’s no telling when that answer might come. But when it does, be the first to find out and access exclusive content with the Mitt’s VP app.
Just download the app and when Mitt decides on his running mate, you’ll get an exclusive notification from the campaign letting you in on the exciting news before the press and just about everyone else (except maybe Ann).
How It Works
• Sign in to the app using your MyMitt or Facebook account.
• Allow push notifications on your phone to ensure you get the exclusive news.
• When Mitt makes his VP choice, you’ll get the news alert first.
• Share from the app to earn exclusive merchandise and content.
The Republican candidate isn’t the only one with an iPhone app though, as the Democratic campaign has also released an Obama for America application to the App Store that aims to connect supporters to local event, news, and ways for them to get involved. This is the first election that will be taking full advantage of the mobile presence that comes with iOS and Android applications.
What do you think? Are you glad to see them recognize that apps are a great way to communicate? Is this just another thing that politics will take over? Let us know in the comments
