Siri comes to new iPad, no API for devs

When the new iPad launched over a few months ago, one of its touted features was Dictation. It’s an excellent feature. But it wasn’t Siri. However, today at WWDC, Scott Forstall announced that the new iPad will be getting full Siri support with iOS 6.

Like Stephen said in his article, Siri will be getting a lot of new features, however one of the most requested features was an API for developers. Siri APIs would allow developers to integrate Siri and allow application specific commands. Sadly, a Siri API was not announced at WWDC. However, thanks to iOS 6′s integration with Facebook and Twitter, you’ll be able to post to both of services, without ever having to launch the application.

Forstall also mentioned another awesome feature of Siri to launch apps. Instead of fumbling through hundreds of applications on your device, Siri will be able to open the exact app you want, just by the sound of your voice. (Well, and a little fiddling with the home-button).
