Rumor: iOS-based lighting controls from Lextar to become Apple certified
Convenience is something that we all look for now. Whether it’s using an app on our phone to change the channel on the television or pressing a single button to set the coffee to automatically brew in the morning, the convenience of using a service or product is something most of us look for to judge a useful purchase. A product that fits that category is smart lighting, and Lextar Chairman David Su said that their Bluetooth LED lighting controlled by iOS devices is soon to approved by Apple, according to DigiTimes. Certification of this kind would allow Lextar to put “Made for iPhone” and “Made for iPad” on their products. It’s also necassary for Apple’s certification because their iOS devices require special authentication for Bluetooth Serial Port Profile devices.
Lextar is said to be working on new Bluetooth LED lighting products that would have compatible hardware and software for iOS devices, allowing you to control the lighting from your device. The LED lighting technology allows you to adjust color temperature, brightness and tone. LED lighting control for Lextar products was released for Android last year. Now it’s looking like it will be officially coming to iOS devices.
What do you think? Would you purchase lighting that could be controlled by your iOS device? Already have this on Android and looking forward to the iOS version? Let us know in the comments.
