Rumor: iPhone 5 back panel leaked, and for sale

Any rumor regarding the next iPhone should be taken with a pinch of salt, even if it is a leaked part. That said, it’s not often that leaked components and parts turn up for fictional devices. iFixYouri and 9to5Mac have come across this interesting piece, which is supposedly the 6th generation iPhone’s back and sides. It’s all one piece, strengthened with an Aluminum panel on the back (fitting in with a rumor we head a few weeks back).

As pointed out in the source article, it’s likely that these parts come from a prototype device that will never be released. Likewise, this could actually be from the iPhone 5/”new iPhone” or whatever Cupertino names it. Interestingly, the dock connector is much smaller than the current 30 pin version.

The Chinese part supplier who sells the part is said to be a reliable one, and is the same one who claimed the iPad would be launched in white prior to the iPad 2 be made available in two colors for the first time. The same source claims that the next gen iPhone will be available in more colors than just the black and white that’s currently available. I’m not holding out hope of seeing a Cyan iPhone any time, but, it would be nice.

What are your thoughts on this? Is it a fake, is it hideous? Best iPhone back ever? Chime in down below or tweet me: @TiP_Cam.

I like the micro doc thing but the design of the back is hideous and I really hope it's just a prototype that will not be released!

If it's micro usb they'll attract more consumers complaining that it doesn't have micro usb. And micro usb is more universal anyway. If this is legit, this would be a good move for Apple.

I hope this is it but they do not need to change the charger by of those who have ihomes and docs would be SOL

It's nice but i think they should keep the 30 pin connector

I don't see Apple straying from the 30 pin connectors. They have used them on every Iproduct to date, why piss off joe consumer?

OG Blasphemy But they did the same with the firewire.. But I would also keep the current one. I personally like it better than microUSB chargers.

its cool but i would like the same 30 pin connector

that doesn't look real. because it doesn't have the 30pin apple dock port
