No progress between Apple and Samsung after court talks

If you have been following the tech news lately, then you know that Apple and Samsung were ordered to have court-moderated talks in order to avoid lengthy and expensive legal battles. Well it appears that couldn’t even force the two companies to make up.

A story from Korea Times confirms that after two days of court talks between the opposing tech armies, neither Samsung nor Apple would compromise on anything. The has been absolutely no more progress made then when the legal fight began. Korea Times reported the following:

“Samsung CEO Choi Gee-sung and Shin Jong-kyun, head of the firm’s mobile division, left Seoul Sunday for the United States to meet Apple CEO Tim Cook by order of the Northern District Court of California, in an attempt to settle the patent fight without going into costly legal proceedings…The two technology giants could find no clear agreement through the talks, according to a Samsung official. Apple Korea declined to comment on the matter.”

I would like to say I’m surprised, but let’s be honest, no one really thought forcing two giant companies – companies that are suing each other over patents - to talk would end in a magical resolution. I guess now it’s time for the “lengthy and costly” legal proceedings to begin.

What do you think? Were you expecting the giants of tech to work it out? Or would it have surprised you if they had? Speak to us in the comments below

I have no hatred for Apple, but these lawsuits are ridicules. Apple did not invent touch screens, or touch screen phones (maybe palm should sue Apple). My palm treo (made long before iPhone) had games and applications available through third parties, a touch screen, apps aligned as icons..etc. Apple made an iPhone and set the bar much higher, but didn't really invent too much. Pinch and zoom already existed (not on phones but on other touch screen displays), capacitive touch existed...I mean... It's very hard to really understand what iphone had that was original except for the fact that Apple took the best of many existing things and put them together.

Based on that...How is it not acceptable for other manufacturers to do the same thing?
