We’re used to seeing Apple’s incredible sales figures by now, especially when it comes to iOS devices. The iPhone’s popularity is unrivalled. By creating everything in-house, software and hardware together, striking great deals with manufacturers and selling devices at a premium, Apple ensures that it takes the biggest chunk of mobile profits.
In Q1 of this year, Cupertino raked in 73% of the mobile industry’s profits. Despite shipping more handsets than anyone, Samsung still only took in 26% of the money made. The remaining 1% was taken by HTC. Every other manufacturer made a loss. The two competitors will more than likely dominate over the next couple of years, but, HTC’s successful One series will undoubtedly help the Taiwanese firm take a bigger slice of the pie.
