Twitter for iPhone update brings back popular gestures

Twitter's swipe shortcut returns!

The Twitter iPhone app is definitely one of my most used applications, and for the most part it’s a pretty great app. However, I did have a few problems with the latest major update, 4.0. The update saw a new, sleek design but it also got rid of a lot of the gestures and other little things that made the app so intuitive. My biggest gripe with the update was the disappearance of the swipe shortcut

Well, I’m happy to say that the swipe shortcut, along with a bunch of other great features, are back. Twitter for iPhone version 4.1 is now available, and other than the swipe shortcut, the app also adds:

  • Copy and paste for tweets and profiles
  • Press and hold actions on links in tweet details
  • Font size settings
  • Direct Message improvements
  • Confirmation alert for Find Friends
  • Improved startup time and general performance improvement
  • Improved image quality in tweet detail
  • Accessibility improvements
  • Profile shows whether a user follows you
  • Verified badges in people search results
  • New language: Turkish
  • Lots of other polish and bug fixes

Now, keep in mind that these updates are iPhone only, but this is still good news. How often do you guys use the Twitter application? Did you notice the absence of these features?
