It was only last July that the App store reached 15 billion downloads, yet here we are. Apple has been selling iPhones, iPads and iPods like crazy and this is only proof. 25 billion downloads. Can you believe it? That is a whole lot of Angry Birds and Tiny Wings and Infinity Blade.

Apple has put up their spiffy little animated counter that gets that much closer to 25 billion by the second. In fact, approximately every 4 seconds, 1 thousand apps are downloaded. This thing is ticking so fast that unless you refresh every once and a while, the counter gets behind (just a word to the wise if you plan to enter).

As always, Apple wants to just give a little thanks, and when I mean little, I mean 10,000 dollars. That’s right, If you download the 25 billionth app, you win 10,000 dollars in iTunes gift cards. All you have to do is download one app at just the right time. Of course if you don’t want to download anything, you can enter here (limit 25 times daily).

The odds of winning are of course astronomical, but you cannot win if you don’t enter at all. If you happen to win, just remember who it was who told you when it comes time to collect your prize. Best of luck to you all!
