Apple has a very interesting history. As most of you probably know, the company started out making computers. However, over time it has evolved from the creator of desktop PCs into the market leader in portable laptops, music players, cell phones, tablet computers, accessories, etc… And, with every new market that the company has taken on, it’s found success (except, of course, the social networking market. But, come on, Ping was doomed from the start).
And now it seems Cook&Co. are planning to work their magic on the television market next. What’s more, if Apple does actually release an HDTV, it’ll probably do very very well. So this got me thinking – what other consumer products could Apple thrive at producing?
My first thought was the camera. A little while ago, Apple Camera rumors were pretty common. It was a long shot, sure, but not an impossibility. I can just imagine a sleek, aluminum-bodied camera with a killer lens, tons of built-in storage, a huge touch-enabled, flip-out display, and an even bigger price tag.
But soon I started asking myself why a company like Apple has to stick to just the little things. What about an Apple refrigerator? An Apple oven? Heck, Apple could release an entire line of kitchen appliances, slap on a touch screen here and there, and sue the pants off of Kenmore, KitchenAid, Viking, LG, and Samsung… oh wait, it’s already got Samsung covered.
But why stop there? I’m sure there’s tons of people who would love to cruise down the highway on a nice Sunday morning in their very own Apple iCar. There wouldn’t be a single knob or button. Instead, the entire center console would be nothing more than an iPad dock. All you’d have to do is plug your iPad into the car (iPad sold separately) and boom! Air conditioning, GPS navigation, seat warmers, radio controls, and more! Oh, and there wouldn’t be a steering wheel. Instead, you simply tell Siri which way you want to turn and she’ll take care of the rest.
Alright, this has obviously taken a turn for the ridiculous, but I’m really interested to hear what you guys think about this. If you were in charge of Apple, what consumer market would you have the company take on next? Let me know in the comments section below, or share your thoughts on twitter!
