Summary: Recently acquired by LinkedIn, CardMunch helps you organize the business cards you collect by scanning, transcribing and recording the card’s information on your phone.
Review: CardMunch is the perfect app for anyone in the business world. Especially anyone who attends networking events or conferences regularly. Keeping track of the cards or having the information when you need it is a tedious task and that’s where CardMunch’s technology comes in handy.
What I like to do after an event is line up the cards I received and take a picture using CardMunch. The app automatically recognizes the card, captures the image, transcribes the details and creates a new contact on my phone. The actual transcription process can take about 10 minutes, so I like to go through the line of cards getting all of the pictures so by the time I’m finished, the transcriptions are starting to roll in. If you only have one card though, the app will notify you when the transcription is complete. The reason there is a wait period is because the transcription is checked by a human to rule out any indiscrepancies between the card and finished contact.
When viewing your contacts, you can read the information as you would a normal contact page, or access the image of the business card. You can also scroll through the card rolodex when in landscape view. CardMunch makes things even easier by separating professional contacts from personal ones.
CardMunch is easy to use and really cuts back on time wasted searching for cards or adding them to your address book. The design is simple and intuitive and as a neon green lover, the icons grabs my attention.
To start using CardMunch, you will have to sign in with your LinkedIn account. I can’t wait to see more integrations between these two services.
