Remember the Newton PDA? neither do I, but of course it was just coming to the market before I even knew what that big box on our living room desk was for. But the Newton was Apple’s first and only attempt at a tablet computing device before the iPad came along. It was widely seen as way before its time and was a worldwide flop as well.
But some ingenious fellow has decided to port the ancient OS over to the Newton’s grandson; the iPhone. The Newton OS is running via emulation, meaning it needs a separate program to run it since the it can’t be run natively in iOS. Check out the video to see it doing its thing on the iPhone.
