May 6th roundup – Top 5 stories from the day
Today I bring to you a quick roundup of the 5 most compelling stories of the day. They may awe you, they may shock you and then again you may just say “Duh!” Without further delay, here are my top 5 stories for May 6th.
Apple and AT&T extend exclusive contract for rest of the year!
This first story comes as a shock, but then again it was to be expected. As it shakes out, Apple granted exclusivity for the rest of the year in regards to iPhone rights. What was the cause of this? The deep discounted data plans for the iPad without a contract has apparently landed big blue a 6-month extension on exclusive rights for selling the iPhone. As it sits now, Verizon and T-Mobile will have to wait it out just a little longer.

iPhone users want Verizon?
Speaking of Verizon, in a survey that was compiled by ChangeWave, 4000 customers were asked if they would upgrade to the iPhone if it became available on their network. 53% of those surveyed expressed interest in switching from their current device. As mentioned above, it could be a bit of a wait for those customers before they “might” be able to make that change.

iPad sold out in Apple stores
The next story comes as a no brainer. Did we really think, with now over a million iPad’s sold, we would see them lying about in stores. If you are however still aching to get one, be sure to sign up on Apples “Notify Me” lists in store. When iPad’s arrive back in stores, you will be notified in the order that you signed up and you will have 24 hours to pick it up. Walk-ins will not be able to purchase the device until the wait list has been addressed.

Place your bets using your iPhone
Very little gets on to iTunes if it is not family oriented. Most scandalous material has officially been removed from iTunes as Apple has dubbed it not family friendly. But now, you can place your bets using Betfair’s mobility app. But before you go searching for the app, you must either be in the UK or Ireland to even have the application work correctly. This program ensures you are in one of those countries using the GPS on your iPhone. If you are here in the US, it will not work for you.

For anyone looking for an iPad, ordering online ain't such a bad idea. It ships within 5-7 business days, which might be faster than waiting for an in-store shipment. At least you know it's coming and you don't have to fight the crowd at the store.
