Make your iPad cool – Part 2
The iPad has been out for a couple of weeks now, and the accessories are really starting to pick up steam. This week we continue with accessories that have some major eye appeal. In case you missed part 1, you can check it out here.
With this final installment, I will cover iPad cases that I have found most eye appealing for my soon-to-be device. I have listed these cases in the order that I like them. (And trust me it was hard to rank them.)
First we start with the Stealth Armor. This case gives you a protective finish that will include a clear panel for the iPad display and your choice of colored finish for the back of the device. You can choose from clear, brushed nickel, carbon fiber, matte black or (my favorite) wood grain. $65.00
.
This iPad Case will give you a protective cover with a built-in stand. Not only will you be able to stand it up as pictured above, but you will be able to lay it down. It can also prop your tablet up just enough, when using the keyboard in landscape mode. Available in black only. $39.00
.
This is a Carbon Fiber iPad Case that is laid out horizontally and is hand-crafted out of carbon fibers. You will find that it has a neoprene lining inside and a strap for keeping your iPad secure. $140, this case is set to begin shipping today.
.
The Puff Sleeve|S, is available in three different colors. Made out of foam and neoprene, it’s like a thick winter coat for your iPad. This case will keep your device away from the winter blues if you travel around in cold weather a lot. $30
.
This pad pack gives you an innovative swivel that allows for any configuration. You will be able to carry it on your side, and then flip it open and swivel to landscape mode, when you feel the need to surf the Internet or type. Price and ship dates are to be announced.
.
The Colcasac iPad Case is hand-made in Salt Lake City. This sleeve fits snug around your iPad with little to no slack. There is also a small outer pocket for the small things in life. You can find this in a variety of colors and designs. $35
.
This case maker is shipping slim, padded sleeves with a various of unique designs. This sleek, compact, design will allow you to easily protect your iPad and still be able to slide it into an existing hand bag or satchel. $33
.
The Faux Suede Protective Slip with Shoulder Strap gives you an exterior pocket for small accessories. The shoulder strap is detachable for days you may not need it. It costs $40, but it’s currently on sale for $20.
.
Case-mate currently has five iPad cases, with two more on the way. The Express iPad Nylon Flip Case gives you a slim, splash-proof folding sleeve with a magnetic enclosure. The iPad Gelli Case is a flexible skin for the back of your iPad and comes in a variety of colored patterns. The Hybrid Tough Case is a dual-layer skin with a silicone wrapper on the inside, and a hard plastic shell on the outside for strong impact resistance. The Traveler iPad Felt Folio Leather Case has pockets for storing a notepad, business cards, and pens. Finally, the Walkabout iPad Leather Folio case is made of a genuine tan-leather. These products range from $35 – $80.
.
Over a dozen iPad cases, bags, and stands are on the way, according to the company. The variety of colors, styles and fabrications means users will have a diverse choice, including materials like neoprene and leather, or styles like photo stand, slim sleeve and messenger bag. All cases are currently listed as “coming soon,†so be sure to check back to the site often to see when these become available.
.
These wooden iPad cases are more like boxes, but they are among the most beautiful cases I’ve ever seen. Offered in a choice of African mahogany, maple, walnut, zebrano and wenge, they feature a flip-up lid and a shell design that allows your iPad to sit inside a “box-like” enclosure that totally encompasses your device. Prices are yet to be determined and designs are still being finalized. Be sure to check out the photos that Substrata has posted and sign up to receive e-mail updates. These cases will become available as early as June.
.
When I first saw these accessories from Happy Owl Studio, I thought of the old Trapper Keepers from the ’80s that I used to lug around at school. So maybe I am a little biased about the styling, but its extra storage and sleek design easily make this my top choice for carrying the iPad. Prices and availability to be determined.
Now that I have given you my favorite cases, did you find something better? Or do you see something that I may have missed? Tell me in the comments below!

I will certainly be using happy owl studio's "trapper keeper" case in school. I've been looking for something like this.
