New IPad Models Seen Within Device Logs
Multiple iPad models are being tested within Cupertino and the Bay Area, seemingly confirming new iPads coming in the near future.
New iPad identifiers have been spotted by mobile marketing company Fiksu (shared via TechCrunch) this morning. Four identifiers have appeared thus far.
This doesn’t necessarily mean that four new iPads are coming out as they could simply be various identifiers to differentiate Wi-Fi and Cellular models. Fiksu believes that there are between two to four new iPad models.
Obviously, only a small number of visits have been spotted as there are only a small number of them available. Fiksu believes it is “about the same number we see being tested about a month before release.”
– iPad 7,1 – 17
– iPad 7,2 – 11
– iPad 7,3 – 5
– iPad 7,4 – 10
These model numbers are similar to the current generation iPad Pros.
– 12.9-inch iPad Pro (Wi-Fi) – iPad 6,7
– 12.9 inch iPad Pro (Cellular) – iPad 6,8
– 9.7-inch iPad Pro (Wi-Fi) – iPad 6,3
– 9.7-inch iPad Pro (Cellular) – iPad 6,4
At the very least, this means that Apple has two models out in the wild. Presumably for a new generation 9.7 and 12.9-inch iPad Pro, accounting for both Wi-Fi and Cellular models. This could also mean that there are three models of the iPad, which is more in line with what rumors are speculating regarding a 10.5-inch iPad Pro.
While Fiksu is only seeing four models of the iPad, it’s possible that there are more models currently in development. Presumably, the 10.5-inch variant is being tested internally and is not let out in the wild.
