Report: 9.7-Inch IPad Pro 2 To Be Modest Upgrade Over Current Generation, Features A10X Chip

With rumors suggesting that Apple is working on three different iPad models, with no confirmed event date, it’s unclear as to what Apple plans on releasing in the spring.

Japanese blog Macotakara says that the 9.7-inch iPad Pro 2 would be the first Apple product released this year. But before you get your hopes up, it says that the new 9.7-inch iPad Pro will be a modest upgrade over the original, with no external design changes whatsoever.

The report says that the 9.7-inch iPad Pro 2 will include an A10X chip which will include better CPU and graphics performance.

Adding an “X” chip to the new iPad makes sense, however. As Apple has a history of updating their iPads with “X” versions of the iPhone chip. For example, the current generation iPads boast an A9X chip which corresponds to the A9 released with the iPhone 6s.
